The Path of Compassion with Lama Karma Drodhul

May 18, 2018 @ 8:00 am - May 20, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Public Talk on Friday, May 18, 2018

The Compassion of Daily Life

Our busy world doesn’t always give us time to slow down and really spend time with one another; loneliness and alienation can occur even when we are “connected” through our seemingly ever-present electronic tools and social media sites.

How can we reach across the gap and meet one another with kindness? By awakening our natural capacity for love and compassion. This talk introduces us to Buddhist teachings on compassion.

Weekend Teaching on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20, 2018

Path of Compassion: Bringing Our Love to Life

During the weekend seminar, Lama Karma will teach us further methods of meditation on compassion including altruism practice (“Sending and Receiving”) and the mantra practice of Chenrezig, Bodhisattva of Compassion. Through teaching, empowerment and blessings, Lama Karma will introduce us to our inner compassionate nature and help us actualize it in our everyday lives.

During the Saturday afternoon session, Lama Karma will offer Refuge and the Chenrezig empowerment. Refuge is required to attend the empowerment. If you are interested in taking Refuge, please send an email to Lama Kathy at lamakathy@columbusktc.org.

About Lama Karma Drodul

Lama Karma Drodul is Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche’s principal attendant and assistant. As a youth, Lama Karma excelled in all aspects of dharma study and Thrangu Rinpoche sent him to the U.S. to deepen his understanding of the dharma under the tutelage of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche. In March 2004, Lama Karma completed his first, and in February 2008 his second, traditional three-year, three-month retreat under Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche at Karme Ling Retreat Center. He now is one of the Drubpons (retreat masters) at Karme Ling and travels to centers throughout North America to teach.  He is the author of Amrita of Eloquence: A Biography of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche.
