The third of the four “Great Occasion” holidays on the Tibetan Buddhist yearly calendar is Chökhor Duchen, the day commemorating the Buddha’s first teaching. Virtuous acts done during this time are multiplied many thousand-fold because of its connection with events in the life of the historical Buddha.
