Chökhor Duchen Sunday is the Sunday observance of Chökhor Duchen, the Great Occasion of the Buddha’s first teaching. After his enlightenment, the Buddha remained silent for many days, not being sure how to articulate and share his awakened discovery. Then, he was approached and asked to teach, and gave the teaching on the Four Noble Truths. We honor the Buddha and the profound teachings he gave us by reciting the “Praise of the Twelve Deeds of the Buddha” before the usual Sunday Dharma Talk.
