Film Fundraiser for KTC

June 13, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

- $10 – $20

On Monday, June 13th at 7:00 pm, the Columbus KTC Buddhist Center is hosting two films by Director Mark Elliott at the Gateway Film Center. The first film provides an intimate coverage of an important leader for the Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist lineage and the second film describes the story of creating a sacred building, called a stupa, in Southern Colorado.

The funds raised from this event will be used to help build a new Buddhist Meditation Center. In late January 2016, an arsonist set fire to our building and it was destroyed. Help us raise money for our new home!

Bodhisattva at 7:00 pm (1 hour long) 7pm

18631-2.gif‘Bodhisattva’ portrays the Seventeenth Gyalwa Karmapa, one of the most important Lamas in the world of Tibetan Buddhism. Many view him as the natural successor to the Dalai Lama as the face of Tibetan Buddhism to the world for the next generation. In this hour-long documentary, this young man of extraordinary warmth, humanity and charisma embarks on his first tour of the United States, where he speaks to packed auditoriums and delights in encountering this new world. ‘Bodhisattva’ interweaves footage shot on tour, with superb background footage of the Karmapa’s childhood in Tibet, sequences in Dharamsala, India, and film of the previous Sixteenth Karmapa.

Eye of the Land at 8:15 pm (45 minutes long) 8:15pm

eye_land_cover-210x300‘Eye of the Land’ tells the story of the making of the forty two foot high Tashi Gomang Stupa near Crestone, a remote area in Southern Colorado. A Stupa is an architectural rendering of enlightened mind and is used to contain the relics of great Buddhist teachers, transmitting the very essence of their wisdom, realization, and compassion for all beings. Created over a period of seven years by a small group of dedicated volunteers, the Tashi Gomang Stupa is dedicated to his His Holiness the XVI Gyalwa Karmapa, one of the foremost masters of Tibetan Buddhism.

Tickets are $12 for each film, or $20 for both films. Please come and be inspired – and help us rebuild our Buddhist temple!
