In observance of the Great Occasion (Duchen) of the Buddha’s Descent from Heaven (Lhabab) where he taught Abhidharma to his mother to repay her kindness, KTC will offer a Chenrezig Mantra Accumulation Event from 10 AM to 4 PM at the center.
It is said that the positive effects of dharma practice on the Great Occasions are multiplied many hundreds of times, so this is an ideal time to be with your Dharma family for practice.
To take advantage of the blessings of this day, KTC’s Shrine Room will be open for personal Chenrezig Mantra recitation from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Feel welcome to come for a half-hour, an hour, or bring a vegetarian sack lunch and stay the whole day.
Participants in the Chenrezig Mantra Event will receive a free copy of a short Chenrezig practice to recite on their own, and will be invited to count their recitations for the benefit of the Columbus KTC, the city, state, nation and world. Participants can leave slips of paper with their mantra count in a basket in the shrine room – the mantras will be collected at the end of the day and offered for the benefit of all beings.
Participants will have the additional blessing of being in the KTC shrine room while a small group of KTC practitioners do a full day of the Chenrezig fasting retreat called “Nyingne,” practicing the Sadhana of the 1000-Arm Chenrezig.
In addition, participants can make offerings to our KTC Stupa and recite the Stupa Offering Puja created by our founder, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche. Flowers will be provided for you to offer to the stupa, but it’s also OK to bring your own flowers. Making offerings to a stupa on the holiday is especially powerful and effective for one’s prayer intentions
Copies of the Stupa Offering Puja will be available to borrow at the KTC during the Mantra Event.
