The Nyungne Retreat is a treasured part of Tibetan Buddhism that uses compassion mantra and fasting to make us aware of the sufferings of the world, purify our negative karma and mental states, and awaken our bodhisattva heart.
This workshop will cover the 1000-Arm Chenrezig (Bodhisattva of Compassion) mantra practice. It will be led by Lama Tom Broadwater and Lama Adam Berner.
Topics covered will include the history of the Nyungne sadhana and retreat, the principles of mantra meditation, and instructions on how to learn and benefit from Tibetan Buddhist visualization meditation.
During the afternoon session, Lama Tom will give the reading transmission for the 1000-Arm Chenrezig practice, which, along with the Vow of Refuge, is a prerequisite for participating in the Nyungne Retreat being held at KTC Columbus Aug. 5-8, 2022.
Practitioners of all experience levels are welcome to attend. Although the Refuge Vow is required to attend the afternoon Reading Transmission and the Nyungne Retreat itself, there are no special prerequisites for the morning session of this class.

ABOUT LAMA TOM
Lama Tom Broadwater became a student of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche in1999. He completed a three-year retreat in 2012. He currently serves as an associate resident teacher at Columbus Karma Thegsum Chöling Buddhist Meditation Center in Columbus OH.
ABOUT LAMA ADAM
Lama Adam Berner completed the three-year retreat at Karme Ling Retreat Center in March of 2020. Lama Adam is an associate resident teacher at Columbus KTC.
