It’s been an exciting few months for Columbus KTC as we have seen our Rebuilding project get closer and closer to the construction stage. At our last Sangha meeting at Tibetan New Year in February, we began our table conversations with the question, “What do you look forward to in the new building?” And the answers – ranging from “air conditioning!” to “space for retreats and programs” all had the flavor of looking forward to the community being together again in a new space.
At our Land Blessing and Ground Breaking in early April, we began to get a feeling for what it will be like to meet once again in prayerful fellowship on our Franklinton property. And now it’s time to take that inspiration to a deeper level, to discuss what kind of community we’re going to be when we open the doors to our new temple next year.
To start the conversation, we’re having a Sangha Program and Gathering from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday June 23 in the Lower Social Hall (the KTC shrine room) at Congregation Tifereth Israel.
Following the dharma talk on the topic of kindness, a community vegetarian lunch will be served at 1 pm, serving as a backdrop for a conversation about how we will care for each other as a spiritual community as we welcome new visitors from our Franklinton neighborhood and around the city of Columbus to our new shrine hall.
Our bright new temple could magnetize new energy from the entire Central Ohio area. If that happens, it will be important for us to know how to care for each other and how to open our community to new “bodhisattvas in training.”
It’s sure to be a lively conversation; we look forward to seeing you there!
Lunch is free, but registration will be needed. Register by clicking below.
May all beings benefit!
