Friday Night Public Talk:  Advice for Developing Confidence in Dharma – And Yourself!

When we hear about the Buddha’s teachings for the first time, we sometimes think, “these teachings speak right to me – they say what I’ve always thought and always believed.” But how do we take this inspiration and make it part of our everyday life? This talk will teach us ways to develop more confidence in the view, meditation and action of Dharma – and how to develop confidence in ourselves so that we can grow and deepen our connection to Dharma.

Weekend Teaching: Lojong – Mind Training Slogans for Compassionate Living

In our sometimes divided and troubled world, peace of mind can be hard to find. The teachings of the Buddha give us methods for developing compassion that can transform how we think and how we live – and even transform our households and communities. “Lojong” means “Mind Training” in Tibetan. The Lojong slogans are short, easy sayings that we can bring to mind when we need to remember to have compassion for others – or for ourselves – and how to transform our shortcomings into the “fuel for awakening.”
