In Welcoming the Unwelcome: Wholehearted Living in a Brokenhearted World, Pema Chödrön “offers fresh wisdom, heartfelt reflections, and the signature humor and insight that have made her a beloved guide during turbulent times.”
This book, rich with practical methods we can apply throughout our daily lives, is written in simple language without complicated terminology. It also contains unique presentations of two foundational forms of meditation: basic sitting meditation and tong-len (compassion meditation).
Each one-and-a-half hour class will include brief presentations on the week’s chapters by hosts Lama Adam and Lama Mitchell, followed by moderated discussion, with short periods of meditation throughout.
The readings for each week are roughly 25-30 pages, and can usually be read in less than two hours. It is recommended that everyone complete each week’s reading before the class, but not required.
Beginners and all others are welcome for this program. No need to have any previous experience to join us, just a desire to supportively engage in discussion and practice with others.
About Lama Adam and Lama Mitchell
Lama Adam Berner and Lama Mitchell Singletary completed the three-year retreat at Karme Ling in March of 2020. Lama Mitchell now lives in Clinton, MS and works on a farm nearby. Lama Adam is Columbus KTC’s associate resident lama.

Tickets are available through EventBrite. Attendance will be by donation, and proceeds will be put toward Columbus KTC Rebuilding Fund. In order to register using Eventbrite, you will need to make a donation of $1 or more.
