World Chisang Day: An Incense Offering to Heal the Earth

June 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Long before there was Earth Day, indigenous peoples around the world created special ceremonies to celebrate and protect the Earth.

In Tibet, there was Dzamling Chisang, or “Incense Offering for the World.” On this holiday – the Full-Moon Day of the 5th Tibetan month, the month of springtime – people gathered in high places on every mountain and in every valley to make incense fires to create healing smoke for the earth and its inhabitants.

Columbus KTC begins this tradition this year with World Chisang Day. We will build a small fire, and weather permitting, offer incense, juniper and other substances to the fire to bring blessing and healing to the Earth.

The event is free and open to everyone.

WEATHER PERMITTING, we will follow the prayer service with a Stupa Offering Ceremony at 11 AM. The KTC Shrine Room will be open for personal prayers and practice until 11:30 AM.
