In Buddhist teaching, freedom is a state of mind that all beings can cultivate and develop. This talk will describe a path to inner freedom.
Dallas Karma Thegsum Chöling Tibetan Buddhist Center is hosting the online event, but all proceeds from donations taken for the event will be donated to Columbus Karma Thegsum Chöling Tibetan Buddhist Center’s Rebuilding Fund. Columbus KTC is raising money to rebuild its temple, which was destroyed in an arson fire in January 2016.
About the Event:
Juneteenth marks a milestone in the struggle against slavery in America – the date when the last slaves in the country – in Texas – were officially emancipated in 1865. We might not have come very far in realizing the dreams of freedom those 19th Century ancestors might have had; even today evidence of that freedom and liberation may seem hard to find.
Starting with the first teachings given by the Buddha 2,500 years ago in India, Lama Kathy will review what liberation means in Buddhism, and how humanity can relate today to those ancient teachings about the roots of freedom in our hearts.
