This 2 ½ hour workshop will serve as a second phase of training for those interested in practicing the Medicine Buddha chant as it is recited at Columbus KTC. Medicine Buddha is an ancient practice of mantra and visualization aimed at purifying our obstacles and obscurations and ripening our inner awakened qualities. It also has been recited for centuries as a path toward physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Instructor Cathy Lhamo will briefly review the background of the prayer text, show us how to read Tibetan transliteration, how to chant the text, and how to do the hand gestures (mudras) that go with the practice. She also will review elementary visualization techniques.
Participants will finish the workshop knowing how to read a Tibetan prayer text, and be prepared to participate in the monthly Sunday Medicine Buddha practice at KTC.
The Medicine Buddha text can be downloaded here.
The Tashi Prayer can be downloaded here.
