“Interconnected” – Talk 11

This week’s talk, given by Meditation Instructor Jim Dunn, is entitled, “Lenses for Global Society,” and is the 11th in our series of talks based on the book Interconnected: Embracing Life in Our Global Society, by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa.

As we are beginning to realize that the current model of our global society is not sustainable, His Holiness asks us to try on different “lenses” to see if we can discover new ways of interacting with one another and the natural world. He offers us three lenses to consider: Global Citizenship, Global Family, and Global Friends. By examining our society with fresh eyes, and learning to work with our attachments and aversions, we may be able to conceive of ways to create a more compassionate, equitable, and sustainable global society.
